There's about 60 houses in my subdivision, and one of our neighbors goes around on Memorial, Independence and Labor Days and puts flags in the pre-drilled holes in the mailbox posts. Exactly. By way of Tijuana, the last Santana concert I attended he went into a 10 minute diatribe about the US 'stealing' land from MexEco. :D

CNN has on right now a wonderful documentary about newly minted Americans getting citizenship. They are showing every state and hearing the personal stories from citizens from virtually every country on earth. When asked, most speak about 'freedom as their reason to come', especially religious freedom.

And in one segment, they made up for NBC's gaffe, deliberately highlighting the word 'God'- many, many times. ;)

One of the main things that makes this a great nation is that the most powerful military machine in the history of the world is 100% volunteer, and has been for a while, including the 10 years since 9-11, when it was obvious that service from then on meant probably being in serious harm's way.

Some, who would play politics with this by starting up the draft again, will have no idea what I am talking about.

Salute the first group and screw the second.

A father and a former soldier, this is America at its best. There are countless more just like it out there. I just happen to know this one.
