We have short fields , huge fields, mid size fields, 3 horse fields
look at HP, however, what do you believe the perfect size field is ?

IMO, 8 to 10, no more.

What's you opinion on this.

Nothing less than 8 that's what I'd say. Although full fields of 12 can get complicated, those are where the money's made. Especially if there is a HUGE false favorite in a full field, where anything can happen with traffic/trip trouble.

I prefer 8 to 12 horses, you can get good value in that range. When i see short fields with 2 to 3 horses under 2/1, i for the most part walk away, it seems i spend more time waiting for decent odds then i do playing the game. I would prefer less races with bigger fields then a full card with short fields.

11 horse fields and up, give me a huge headache.

I would say 9 horse field is my first favorite, 8 is second, 7 is third and 10 is fourth.

I don't really need 11 or more and 6 or less isnt all that great either.

8 to 20 suits me fine.

Minimum for me is 8.

More betting interests, the better, as far as I'm concerned. It raises the confusion factor. Too many people bet any ways when they don't have an edge or clear insight into the race.

For myself the optimum field size is 8 to 10. Less than that is the problem of diminishing value. In larger fields bad racing luck and troubled trips become more common. Of course there are exceptions. Find the lone in form front runner a field of 14-16 bottom level maiden claimers and you have a great bet, but how often does that happen?

7 horse fields, with no 1st timers & an over-bet favorite are what I prefer.

Never less than 8 but as many as the track can hold as often as possible. If new tracks are to be built, I think they should accommodate at least twenty horses and have a straight sprint track of 6f.
