Bris PP's are a decent product, but I dont understand why they do not show the weight allowance for a bug boy.

If you don't recognize the name , there's no way to tell.

It is in the BRIS Ultimate PP's that I use. For example in today's 2nd at Belmont the weight for the 2 horse shows 114 with a small 5 next to it signifying the apprentice allowance.

"Apprentice wgt allow" this is one of the fields in their data..at least in Multicaps and single file and multi file format

34 Apprentice wgt allow.(if any) NUMERIC 99 2

That's very odd. I loaded up a pdf into a different reader and still, I see no bug indicator.

The fonts are embedded so it should not be a font issue, and I can see all the other superscript numbers for fractional times, etc.

I am referring not to todays rider , but the PAST RACES. There should be a 5 or 7 , next to the weight when a bug was up, but it's not there.

Sorry, did not realize you referring to the past races. You are correct it's not there.

but so what, thats the weight they carried last time, race is over....of more interest to those who follow weight so religiously, todays weight is kinda more important...

Does that 114 reflect today's weight or is it 114 - 5 or 109 instead?

6+ lbs off from the last weight indicates a bugboy 90% of the time.

Todays weight of 114 or 119-5= 114

Yeah, you're right. No reason to care that a bug rode last time. Im surprised the DRF even bothers to put that info in the pp's. They should have consulted with you.

For me, knowing an apprentice rode a horse previously is potentially valuable handicapping information.

Dont tell that to senortout, he'll lecture you on the evils of using weight.

The Racing Form has provided this info for god knows how long.

I called Bris, and let them know.

Still, it would be nice if a shipper is coming from an obscure track where it last raced with a 7 or 10 lb. bug and now picks up a journeyman rider.

Nonetheless, Bris is an affordable product; however, sometimes affordability comes with a price.

I don't pay attention to weight, but I do pay attention to apprentice jockeys (could be positive or negative, depends on context). An apprentice who starts winning races often has an excellent ROI.

If you are at all into the game, you know who the bug boys are.

I don't know why they bother to print the names of the horses in the PPs - if you are into the game at all, you know who they are by the owner/trainer.

Ok.....I get it. More info is better, less, badder

I haven't been at all concerned with weights carried since they stopped packing weights on top hcp horses....which has been years and year..Apart from the Fall Highweight, these have all but disappeared from the curriculum.

But more info is better. It was a mistake to suggest otherwise.

ps....a compromise, if you get my drift.

Just because YOU don't use the info, doesn't mean others do not, and many do NOT know who the bug boys are at every track.

That is why we buy the PPs.

I just seems like a really dumb thing to omit, especially when they now have data that years ago would have been considered beyond esoteric.
