Have to think those in charge at the Breeders Cup are secretly hoping that the NFL lockout continues on into the season and the NBA also could potentially be locked out. Yes, I am aware there is still college football for sports bettors but it just isn't the same as the NFL (at least IMO). Have to think there could be potential for a huge handle day at the Breeders Cup. Would be a good day to expose the sport to a newer audience. Hopefully we can get some of the top Euro horses over here, get big fields, and the payoffs will take care of themselves.
