Tonight, around 11 p.m., a group of at least 60-70 African American youth marched down one of the side streets (W. Thrush) to the 4 lane main drag (Sheridan). They were yelling threats to white residents. Things such as we need to kill alll the white people around here. They were physically intimidating anyone calling for help from the police.

A question for our resident ex-cop, Just Ralph. If you are investigating an incident, which do you give the most credence to? Is it statements that are backed up by a number of witnesses, or is it a statement made by a single witness?

I live in the 3rd most violent city in America; 15.6 violent crimes committed per 1000 residents. Maybe I have become jaded. But little surprises me. 4 murders over the weekend (ho-hum), just another summer weekend in the city that once was. Had I been raised in Butte, Montana for example, maybe I would have a different outlook. The point is that stories such as these are completely believable (to me) because this is what I have been exposed to since 1963 when I ventured off to high school and had to leave the safety of my Polish-Ukranian-German neighborhood.

There are conflicting reports on this event, but my gut tells me it is true.

I believe something like that did happen. After watching a documentary last weekend and reading how popular the Klan still is in the South, I believe this happens with 60-70 people or more every weekend. They are just yelling they want to kill Jews and Blacks. I admit they meet in Secret, but it still goes on. Sometimes out on main street.
