a post about a filly racing tomorrow at the meadowlands caused me to look at the entries.
in the same race as the above mentioned filly, i saw a colt named "Man O'War". i saw another, less than average harness horse, named Secretariat a few years ago and i've seen t-breds with little ability named after great harness horses.
i've thought it took a lot of nerve to name a horse after a great one and since the names have to be approved, feel the governing agency should not allow it as a sign of respect to the original.
any thoughts ?
