No this (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-announcing-plans-cut-government-wa) didn't come from the Onion or Saturday night live, this is a real news story.

Obama Announcing Plans to Cut Government Waste Monday Monday, June 13, 2011
By JULIE PACE, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will announce new steps Monday to reduce government waste, arguing that inefficiency, fraud and abuse are especially troubling during tough economic times.

Obama was to sign an executive order creating the Campaign to Cut Government Waste. According to a draft of the order obtained by The Associated Press, Obama will call for a new oversight board to work with federal agencies to cut back on waste and improve their performance. The order also requires cabinet secretaries to hold regular meetings with Vice President Joe Biden to report progress.

Oh my, this is really bold, and with Sheriff Joe minding the store too! Sounds like a winner.

This time they really do appear to be taking things seriously. A board which will hold meetings and then make a report. Genius, pure genius.

I'm not sure if I read a snippet in the LAT's correctly but I think Jerry Brown has created a commission to find fiscal waste and abuse in California. The first place it is looking a semi-private commission that manages property for the state of California. That commission was created by Jerry Brown while he was in the office the first time.
