There are some pretty sharp minds on this forum when it comes to numbers.....
Someone please explain the "positive" in BORROWING from anyone so that you may then turn around and give them same money in the form of aid???
All the while, still owing the original money borrowed PLUS interest???

U.S. Offers Foreign Aid to Countries Holding Billions in Treasury Securities

The United States (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/u.s.htm#r_src=ramp) is providing hundreds of millions of dollars of foreign aid to countries that it borrows billions from, according to a report by Congress's research arm.

The Congressional Research Services released a report last month, a copy of which Fox News exclusively obtained, showing that in fiscal year 2010, the latest year that data was available, the U.S. handed out a total of $1.4 billion to 16 foreign countries that held at least $10 billion in Treasury securities, including China (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/china.htm#r_src=ramp) ($27.2 million), Brazil (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/brazil.htm#r_src=ramp) ($25 million), Russia ($71.5 million), India (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/india.htm#r_src=ramp) ($126.6 million), Mexico ($316.7 million) and Egypt (http://www.foxnews.com/topics/world/egypt.htm#r_src=ramp) ($255.7 million).

Wouldn't an equally valid question be, "Why are countries that need our help loaning us billions of dollars?"

Not in the least.....if I could loan someone money (who guarantees repayment PLUS interest), and also klnow that the same country is going to GIVE ME THAT money in the form of AID, why wouldnt I make that loan?? I would be stupid NOT too.

Now if your asking that from the US perspective, I would hope someone is asking that question...p.s I think it was in the story as well :)
