Some times when you are handicapping you might want to know the following
time value of:

A nose = .009 seconds

A head = .034 seconds

A neck = .051 seconds

Half a length = .086 seconds

Three-quarters of a length = .129 seconds

One length = .172 seconds

Keep in mind that these values are only estimates

very nice!

did you calculate these estimates, or is this info from one of the photo-finish company? trakus?
It looks spot on for the way they call the finish.

I've also heard of 0.18 seconds (pretty much the same as you have) being used for photo finish technology for each length when making the Lengths-at-finish chart call.

With "lengths" it's kind of interesting because lengths at the finish line is generally actually done with a time formula like .172 seconds, but in the middle of the race lengths are also "called" by chart callers and based on visual distance often using the 8' safety rails as guides.
