Problem with AOL IM

Has anyone ever had problems with AOL IM? For some reason, when I got my new desktop, I can see when people IM me, but cannot see their message and cannot respond to them. Its bizarre..

I can use Yahoo Messenger just fine though.

Any ideas?

If your provider is blocking port 135 due to recent virus stuff.....

you will have this problem. check with your provider......

Some firewalls will cause this also. If you have added a firewall program (or turned on the one in Winxp) you can turn it off and see what happens.

Is this something that happens and then goes away?
I used YouBet for a couple of years and suddenly,. I could not log on, could not get to the site no matter what I tried. Many of you offered help at the time to no avail. Then, Friday, for kicks and giggles, I tried to go there and I got on-and tried the Try It button and it worked. Saturday, it still works. I want to re-activiate my account, but I am hesitiant to put too much money into it if I will suddenly get shut out again.
But it is the test best place for betting and video......
