What would you expect to get as a payoff if you just correctly selected an exacta with a 40-1 on top and a 32-1 chance second? Perhaps $1,000, maybe $1,250 if you were lucky? HOw about $275! That was all the second race exacta paid after the two longest shots on the board, Mambo Maya and Bryce's Girl ran one-two in the bottom level conditioned claimer for fillies and mares. Hopefully somebody here will take a look at the betting patterns for the race and try to ascertain where all those winning tickets came on the 5-2 combination. The Trifecta and superfecta payoffs were not out of line, the tri paying $7,400 and the Super over $31,000.

Lets see how this gets swept under the rug

Stupid to speculate that alot of $2 exotic wagers were placed with that combo? I would expect 7-8 hundred payoff at least however....

In a 7 horse field..........I'd expect at least $350.

Take a look at race 6:

10 horse field.....3-1 + 21-1 = $90.00?

I'd expect at least $225.

EDIT: By the way......look at the fractions for race 6.

Sometimes its just one guy somewhere with a bunch of cash making a large exacta box. That stuff happens in small pools. It happens in the larger pools as well just not as often.

I read on another board that the bet was $100 exacta wheels, 2/all and 5/all.
The exacta pool was thin, and it was a short field, so the payoff really stuck out.

Guess nobody was charting the exactas and covering the 2 and the 5 in the win hole. Pretty interesting.

The $100 exacta makes sense,i think there was only about 60 winners.

Must have sucked for the other 5 people? holding a ticket.

Yes, but it didn't suck for anyone who charted the exactas and took advantage of the "inefficiencies" in the pools and played the winner.

I understand that the exacta will pays showed the 2 and 5 over the chalk paying LESS THAN the chalk over the 2 and 5 for some time before the race went off, so a pool watcher would have had enough time to act.

C'est la vie!

I was watching this race. When I saw this exacta romp home and I hit the probables my jaw dropped. I could not believe my eyes. I have seen stuff like this at tiny harness tracks but at Calder I could not believe it. I hope if there was an error somehow they make the winners whole.

it happens all the time, i stopped playing those tricks for years now.what exactly happens "all the time?"

Exactas paying $200 that should have paid $1000?
