Does not Dallas have a 14-0 streak vs Miami? Many will say it is meaningless in the playoffs, and in this instance I agree. Lets break this matchup down so I can get my cash back!!!!!

Stats can always be flipped and the one that you quoted is accurate. But on the flip side those wins were in 2006 for the NBA title. Miami hasn't lost at home in 3 rounds so far and they have 4 games.

The line is too high to take Miami but the way their playing defense I think they win in five or six. Derick Rose went 6% from the field with Lebron guarding him that's utterly amazing. They have a semi healthy Haslem and Mike Miller playing which they didn't have earlier. Everybody killed Spoelstra for not using Ziggy wonder if he'll play this series.

All I hope for is an entertaining series with great playing on both sides.

Dallas played lights out but one game people fail to remember is them blowing a 22 point lead to Portland. On the plus side if Barea gets a free pass driving into the lane this series Dallas has a very good chance.

Amazing when the playoffs started almost no one mentioned Dallas and the Miami pickers were in the minority.

Let the games begin!!!

They played Dallas 14 times that year? This streak probably went back a few years, albiet with totally different squads, save one or two on either side. Any finals that bring the best to the best is my kinda action! So lets enjoy. Going to take the guys that beat me last out in 6. I actually have a guy who wants the action straight up, so it is a golden opportunity for me to recoup the Bulls beatdown and then some. If I fail, I may qualify for an Obama bailout......

I meant Miami's last wins were in 2006 they haven't beaten Dallas since. Doesn't mean anything either way the playoffs are a different animal. Both the Celitics (3-1) and Bulls (3-0) won the season series from Miami.

When you play the same team over 4-7 games defense usually can stand out.

I agree that it may Dirks best/last chance, but has not swayed my selection.

Dallas has a couple things going for them.

they're underdogs (if they play well, they control the momentum)
James is unlikely to guard Dirk early in games(Dirk can score at will and James/Wade will be helping away from their defenders)

That is a good analysis as I see it. Dallas stands a shot if they force Miami to play catch-up early and often. I took the vantage point of watching Miami make the needed adjustments to shut down and outscore a defensive team. Hope the versatility can hold up, or I will be camping with the horses awhile...lol. Its no secret the Heat owners expected to have bought and paid for this title this year. Gonna be as good a series to come down the pike in awhile for me at least. Early in the year down here in Florida things looked grim when they got off to a 9-10 start, but gel they did......

I think it all depends on how the games are called. If there are a lot of "touch fouls" called and the teams combine for 70+ free throws per game, then Dallas is in good shape.

Dallas is a great free throw shooting team and they depend on Dirk to get his 12-15 (or 24!) trips to the line in order to win.

If they are allowed to play "Eastern Conference" basketball and players are allowed to play through contact with relatively few free throw attempts per game; then I think Miami's athleticism will take control of the series.

Remember, the Mavs have benefitted from "a lot" of freebies at the foul line. Miami is a team that does not foul (or at least it isn't called) much at all. I think they were the least penalized team this season as far as fouls called against them. Wade, James, and Bosh usually get the benefit of doubt.

Nowitski for the Mavs is their only true superstar. He will get the benefit of doubt most of the time, but I still think it comes down to how the games are called.

If it is called tight; I like Dallas. If they play basketball; I like Miami.

Very good breakdown I like your analysis.

Let me add if I was Miami would not double team Dirk let him get his points. Haslem can guard him to a degree along with Bosh till Lebron gets his shot. Stop the rest of the team and it looks like a good game plan to me. Look what happened to Chicago and their one man show. Granted Dallas has more offensive punch but good defense could put a clamp on them.

I think they'll let them play they usually do in the finals. Being a fan of great defense I can't wait till Tuesday and see what transpires.

One thing is certain...the number of touch fouls called on Lebron and Wade will be minimal if not nonexistent.

I like the under 187 1/2 in game 1. We all knew the offensive capabilities of Miami but I was very impressed by their lockdown defense. I think Lebron has realized that to win a title, you have to lay it down at both ends of the floor.

Unbelievable collapse by Miami in Game 2.

Caught the game 1 total but passed on game 2, which could've gone either over or under or pushed depending on one's number.

I do think the offense will pick up a bit as the series goes on. Both teams were a little rusty in game 1 off the layoff and there's the game 1 jitters. I expect both to be gone for game 3. Going with OVER 187 1/2 for game 3 in Dallas.

The Miami of old showed up last out....nice brick they threw up. Huge Dallas swing in momentum now. Had a foul to give, and allowed the shot to go up, allowing the tie. Brilliant......
