The switch has been thrown, and PaceAdvantage.com is back online. It's been an interesting 30+ hours to say the least.

If you notice anything strange or different, don't hesitate to let me know via the board, private message, or email.

The board should be exactly as you left it. I haven't actually upgraded the message board software yet. What we've been doing is moving the entire website to another server, one where we will be the only occupant. Hopefully, it will make things a little speedier around here as well (not that it was ever all that slow).

In the coming days and weeks I will be upgrading the actual message board software, but fortunately, I can do all that completely behind the scenes on a totally disconnected test database, thereby not affecting any of the live software or data. I did not have that luxury while being hosted on a shared server in the past.

Just curious, will you stay with this vBulletin software? I can't speak for anyone else, but I enjoy the vBulletin layout.It wasn't vBulletin or my host's fault...it was my fault. I haven't upgraded vBulletin in at least 5 or 6 years...this version is becoming obsolete when used with the newer versions of PHP and MySQL.

One of the reasons I stopped upgrading was because this version was so stable for me, I figured if it wasn't broken, don't fix it. I kept putting it off and putting it off...

So I will definitely be sticking with vBulletin. And now that I have the server all to myself, I have no excuse, as I can set up a completely separate test platform using a copy of the current database. I couldn't really do that when I was on a shared server because the database is so freakin' huge after 10 years. (I'll be celebrating 12 years on the web this July and 10 years with this database of posts).

I've never seen that (a few minutes)...maybe a few seconds...I also experienced a freeze-up for about 20 seconds. Just no repsonse upon hitting a link, then it came up eventually.

After I posted, it just sat there on my screen for a few minutes (probably 2 mins, no more then 3 minutes). Firefox showed that it was trying to go back to the thread with my new post. I tried opening a new tab to read other PaceAdvantage threads and that tab also took a minute or two to load.

I think this is quite common; it has happened to me before on other boards. It could be an Internet connection on my end or the board not being at 100%.

I eventually saw that the post was successful when I opened a new tab to look at other threads here.

I think it was a little lag that I have seen before on vBulletin and probably other boards before.

In fact, I'm quite pleased with how much more responsive and faster the board is on my end...

Definitely keep the reports coming...keep in mind, delays could also be caused by your ISP...not saying that was the case here, but it's something to consider.
