The longest shot to win the Preakness EVER

23-1. That was a shocking statistic to me. I realize the field is obviously smaller than the Derby but still in the HISTORY of the Preakness that is the longest shot.. I was surprised.

It's a more truly run race than the Derby...less traffic, most have gone the distance in Kentucky two weeks ago, fewer hopeless bombs looking for a miracle.
But 23-1 does seem low for a race that's 130 some odd years old. Off the top of my head I can name two Derby and two Belmont winners that high in the last 10yrs.
Of all the graded races in America that have been run at least, let's say 75 times, this has to be the lowest longshot of 'em all.
