Something tells me if he was -6 thru 9 he'd stick it out. Do you think withdrawing should count as missed cuts?

Now they will be forced to cover the tournament, focusing on the leaders. Of course there will be plenty of commentary about the whys and wherefores of it all. Is Eldrick ready to have the fork inserted?

I bet 3 years ago the odds of tiger beating jacks majors record was 1/9. Now I don't think it will happen. Too many good young players. I love how they don't fold anymore

People will watch this tournament to watch the pros duff it in the pond on #17 like we all do.Tiger has always been classless, it just took some fans longer to realize it than others. When his father was alive and involved in his careeer, Tiger seemed to have a lot more discipline.

How ironic is it on a day when Tiger drops out, that David Duval is in the top 10?

Tiger just came back too soon. He is recovering from a knee and tendon injury he got in the Masters. Say what you want about Tiger he is not a quitter and plays every tournament with the idea of winning. If he wasn't truly injured he would not have withdrawn.

That may be true, but he has never been injured and +6 after 9!

He was hurt from his opening shot and the guys playing with him noticed.....he quit because he could barely walk, not because he is a pussy or was having a bad round

Lot's of opinions on this one. And I thought the only people that had differences of opinion were on PA.

If he wasnt hurt from the get go, I could see your point but he was in clear pain from the start.....it would have been idiotic for him to keep playing and risk further damage.

Yor first question after eloquently calling him a "xxxxx" was whether you quit after having a bad round.....question made no sense because he was hurt before he started and clearly didnt quit because he was having a bad round.

You obviously dont like Woods, which is understandable, and that dislike seems to keep you from having any sort of productive and objective opinion with regards to a discussion involving him.

I agree to a point, but why start if he was already hurt? This isn't your father's Tiger. He is a different person now.

However, calling him that name is a bit much. It is inappropriate to use on this forum and I've edited all the posts that had it.

Good points....it isnt your father's Tiger.....older and not even close to where he was mentally. As to why he started, he said it was sore and he it just got worse so only he knows what really happened. However, the idea that he quit just because he was playing badly makes no sense IMO.

i dont like any one that quits any sport! i once invited group of guys to a $190
per person at a tough private course and the one guy was haveing a tough time so quit after 8 holes-the rest of found the course very tough but we continued to play the 18--you just dont make excuses and quit---i really thing tiger quit cause of his play-hes not used to being +6 (and ill never invite that quitter again

His play and his slow walking were a detriment to his playing partners. I'm sure they were happy he called it a day. It is something I didn't think of originally, but I'm sure it was a factor.

Playing hurt is way over rated. The Boston point guard is a case in point. He hurt his team by playing and maybe cost them the series. Score one for macho-ism and another for stupidity.
Tiger should not even tried to play. I know some you would have gotten off he had finished at +30, but what is the point? A few years ago he played hurt and won a tournament. He has not been the same since. That act of "Courage" may have cost him his career.

. That act of "Courage" may have cost him his career.

At one point Tiger was the greatest player on this planet.
Today his not.
If anything has cost him his career, it's his "head."
(No, not "that head." The one between his ears I mean. That sex therapy clinic is just as likely to have screwed him up as helped him.)

Jack Nicklaus' records are looking pretty safe these days. Tiger may find it hard to win a regular tourney when he comes back, let alone a major. It's hard to feel sorry for him.

Tiger and Charlie Sheen would make one heck of a pairing at next year's Pro Am.

I saw a Conan clip and he said this,

Tiger Woods pulled out after a few holes because of an injury that made him limp. :D

I'm a Tiger fan but you have to question "why start" if he wasn't healthy -- why risk further injury if its that questionable?

I have to think the "score" had a lot to do with him pulling the plug and that's disappointing.

Four surgeries on the same knee, at least that's what I heard on the radio today, is going to be tough for him to ever regain what he once had.

Combination of factors has put him past his prime at 35. Some were self-induced, but the guys 10-15 years younger than him look at him as another older guy that they aren't scared of.

This hasn't been touched on, but if you remember how "built" he was a few years ago, PED's/steroids have got to come into question over what has happened to Tiger.
I used to love Tiger, but anything is possible with this guy after what came out a year and a half ago.
