LARRY COLMUS did a superb job calling the races on national television. he had big shoes to fill from a living ledend TOM DURKIN and performed with flying colors.

I might agree...if I could have heard Collmus. NBC's audio mixer didn't do so well iso'ing Larry's mic. My guess is Johnson got picked up in the mics placed around the track for efx and couldn't get dialed out completely.

That's crap...Mark Johnson's call was spot on. I didn't see this thread and started one about Johnson's call also. He didn't miss anything. Overseas race callers have proven time and time again that they are far superior when it comes to calling big field races.

. . . though I like British accents as much as any American.
