Deep Closer Derby Exception Rule?

Most handicappers usually will not take short odds on a "deep closer"
at a racetrack. Is the Kentucky derby 1 1/4 mile distance and big field an exception to the rule ?
Should we take short odds on "Dialed In" in the Derby with that running style?

I wouldn't take short odds on any horse in the Derby, period.
I won't even take long odds on DI - do not like him.
