Derby Analysis- In as wide open a Derby as I can remember, I actually had a strong opinion until the post draw. Then Archarcharch drew the rail and my excitement turned to frustration. I still think he's the best horse in the race and as long as he breaks okay I think he's going to run his race, whether or not it's good enough is the question. I think he's most likely and one of the main contenders. By all accounts he has worked well and with a good trip, I think he's a winner. IMO, the other contenders for the win are Dialed In, Mucho Macho Man and Nehro.

Dialed In has done little wrong, but his best efforts have come with optimal setups. He figures to get a strong pace to run at and is a worthy favorite. Mucho Macho Man might struggle with the 10th furlong, but to me, he's been the most consistent of the horses on the trail. He figures to be in a good spot turning for home and should give a good account of himself. Nehro is coming into the race off of 2 strong efforts. He's shown the ability to pass horses, but my lone concern is he has had very good setups twice in a row and failed to get the job done.

I will not be using 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,16 or 20 on any tickets. I'll be playing exactas with my win contenders and some triples with the win contenders and the rest that I haven't eliminated.

Really interested in the #5 Mythical Power here. Both Baffert runners today came over early and had 2 works at CD & they both won (First Dude-Plum Pretty).
Mythical Power has the same preparation, and has won twice off the layoff. He was getting to Cpt Cherokee and Smiling Tiger last time at SA in the San Carlos. ML is 10-1 and I have to use him with the above two and the Candyman.
He has come up short in every graded try except at LS, and may not get his ideal pace set up, but the connections are too hot to ignore.

I know Mack is kidding, but Andy has forgotten more about handicapping than I will ever know. He helped me a lot in terms of improving my race watching and IMO he takes a backseat to no one when it comes to handicapping.
