what was the fascination with Midnight Interlude anyways? I know the SA derby used to be a great race, but it seems nothing is coming out of Calif these days. He beat Comma to the Top by a head in that race, and that horse was drifting up to 35-1 this afternoon.... I don't want to diss anyone's picks, but I'm not sure what was there to like?

in all honestly, it probably was a bad wager in retrospect but damnit this was a b ad crop, i had to come to the conclusion that someone bad had to win. it's not like there wa sthis diamond out there that everyone just ignored.

yes i remember cobalt blue quite well, that's right at the time i started to fall hard for horse racing. he beat air commander in one of those san races out in santa anita, i think maybe the san Rafael. that was my first fav horse i was heartbroken lol.

think he owned 2 that year, that is the year that o'neil was stacked with cobalt blue, great hunter, liquidity and notional. I think merv owned at least 2 of them.
