A few of my friends (that know nothing about racing) and family members asked if I wanted to all toss in money and play some SUPERS.. You've got to be kidding me. I wouldn't even know where to begin. We'd probably have between $500-600. I personally would rather toss it all on a horse to win. What kinda bets could you possibly make? Its just way too expensive to play supers.
If I had the money to blow I'd love to pick a horse for 4th (or any spot for that matter) and do ALL/ALL/ALL/15, only costs a mere $5800.

Hi Zippy..... I am gonna put 5$ to win on the 10 highest odds horses. Then I am going to play some part wheels on exactas, tris and a few supers on each of the lowest 10 odds horses with a pretty good wp bet on one of them.
What the hell you never know what you may hit. :jump:

Supers in the Derby are 'impossible' unless you have a HUGE bankroll. Stick to Tri's, you have a much better shot and you can still make a ton of money.
You don't want to invest 500 in the super and miss and then see the Tri is paying 10 or 20 grand and its something you could have hit.
Here's another way to look at it. Hitting a super in a 20 horse field is equivalent (degree of difficulty-wise)to hitting a tri in a 50 horse field.

With 19 horses left (Mo is out), there are 93,024 possibilities for the Super. But let's say you can find 5 horses that you think have absolutely no chance of hitting the top 4 (not that outrageous a call but the real probability is above 0) - this cuts it down to 24,024. If you bet the $504 bet noted above you have (theoretically if all horses remaining have an equal chance), you would have a 48-1 shot. If you are willing to bet $504 on 48-1 (or even say 30-1 if you figure some horses have a better chance than others) then go for it.
Likely you will get a good price - $24K doesn't seem too tough a price to realize in the Super. Of course jack it up for the tax rake.
