Where did you hear/read this? The weather channel only had a chance for possible thunderstorm throughout the day... didn't sound overly likely though. Not doubting you...just asking...weather is always changing. I am sure the report will change 5 times by saturday

I checked with my AOL 7 day forecast. Might not be the most accurate and a couple of days ago it had the day as sunny with a 10% chance.

Can anyone trust a advance watcher report nowadays, even if its 24 hours out?

Based on the NOAA precipitation analysis (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge2/RFC_Precip/index.php?site=lmk) CD has received between 12" and 14" of rain over the past 14 days.

Is there a point to handicapping the turf races as on the turf?

Trying to predict the weather for saturday today is like trying to predict a maiden turf route race of first time starters before the betting starts.;)

Is it to much to ask to have a nice day for the derby? Not only does it make handicapping that much more difficult but I feel bad for the people who spend all that money to go and then have to put up with that all day. It is a real damper on the day.

If you are single 20 something, nothing like a rainy infield with plenty of beer and pretty coeds. I was telling this to several of my young nephews and they had trouble imagining me as 20 something, drunk and chasing young women.

Man did that hurt and expose a nerve. (lol) :D

I think the turf stakes are going to stay on, they never come off. The rest, not so much unless it gets real dry, real soon.

I think it is much easier to pick a superfecta in the Derby than trying to predict the weather.:D

Someone educate me:

1. What kind of horses does rain and slop favor? (Late closers, early speed or pace setters, stalkers..?) Which ones are hurt the most?

2. Does this mean that the inside pole positions will turn to quicksand?

3. Aside from Soldat, who will enjoy having a rain trip during this year's derby?
