I was reading the NY post today and they mentioned Grady Little is expected to be fired tomorrow..

If this is true, what a farce.. the guy takes them to within one game, one run of the world series and they want to can him?

Zimmer said yesterday that he was done as a Yankee. Maybe he'll move back to Boston. <G>

Will Little replace Torre and Zimmer??

That is just absurd.. The guy wins 93, then 95 games and gets to within 5 outs of the world series and they say "we are looking to go in a new direction".. Where is that direction? Last place?

This is a case of irrational thinking right after a tough beat happened. They should not be making any decisions right now while it still stings.

do you know what DON ZIMMER and GRADY LITTLE have in common?

neither guy could take PEDRO MARTINEZ out.

EVen as a big Sox fan, I hope they hire someone and win 70 games.. They deserve that

Must've been more to this than on the surface. Maybe a personality clash w/the rest of the front office (aka Epstein)?

His situation is pretty similar to Dusty's. You win a bunch of games during the regular season get w/in 5 outs of the Series, leave your starter in too long, and then you get eliminated. But I can't imagine Baker getting fired for that.

Yea... You guys missed the 10-12 days of war they fought in teh Boston Media. Little said somethings that showed he:

1. Knew he was gone

2. Wanted to be gone

3. Does'nt understand Boston.

I will not repeat what he said,,,because he is wrong.

Boston broke the 1927 Yankee slugging % record. Thats virtualy equal to Hank aarons record.. only at a TEAM level. This guy shoulda won 105 games with this team. They lost to many 9-8 games they should won 9-5. He under-managed the most prolific offense in the History of the game.. He deserved to be fired for that alone.

I don't have to read anymore. Suff: That says it all.

Slugging % records from the past are the ones that are supposedly never going to be broken. It has to do with the difference in pitchers today. The old guys only threw 3 pitches on their best days. Today some of these guys have 5 and two variations on a couple of those.

I think the interesting part of this year was; no home run race, or nobody getting close to 60. could it be tied to steroid testing that kicked in this year?

Ralph-

I swear Sosa is around 15-20 pounds lighter than he was in his 60 HR plus years. And he barely made it to 40, which is right around where he would regularly be at before the insanity set in. I'm curious to see if Javy Lopez can put up 43 HRs again. I think he hit around 11 in 2002.

I agree. I have been watching this all year. Compared to past years he is shrinking.........
