View Full Version : Anyone from Upstate NY using Capital OTB?

Just getting started and created an online account with Capital OTB. Yet to deposit money as I want to "practice" handicapping before throwing money away. I figured I'd use free PP where I can and start learning that way. Don't see where it would be wise to actually bet races until I have some clue as to what I'm doing.

I just thought I would be proactive in finding others that use the site to wager races as I'm sure to have questions.

For anyone that might use it:

How is the PP they provide for "free" (I guess if you wager $2.00 they are free). Are they decent or am I better off just buying them from The Daily Racing Form when the time comes? Would like to hear what others have to say.

Thanks.

I've used them in the past but not a fan at all. Their website sucks and when you win a bet, it pays less than it does anywhere else because they tack on a surcharge unless you have like $300 in your account.

This isn't true. There is no surcharge if you bet online.

If you're near Albany, the teletheatre on Central Ave is pretty nice. Certainly, much better than anything the erstwhile NYCOTB had to offer.

I have a Capital account but much prefer my Twinspires account. IMO Twinspires is way ahead of Capital as far as wagering pad, video, wagering history, and free PP's (as long as you wager on that track).

Will look into this. That is another reason I haven't deposited. I could be looking in the wrong direction as far as online sites go. Thanks for the info.

Also wanted to say thanks for the sites. I printed off a few and will be handicapping them when I get a moment to myself. Then check on the results and see if I'm even in the same ball field. :)

Cash rebates are much better than free PPs.
