Sadly, Phoebe Snow has died.
What a voice...she really had only one hit and that was 'Poetry Man' in 1975 or so. She won a Grammy that year, but chose her daughter's health needs over musical fame.
She also sang the theme song for the TV show 'A Different World'.
She was only 58yrs old.
RIP Phoebe

I remember her best for singing on Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years" album in 1975. Ironically, the song she sang was named "Gone At Last". She also sang a few cuts with Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan fame) on his 1991 album "New York Rock and Soul Review". Powerful voice!

I love that she retired to care for her handicapped child, only resuming singing twenty (?) years later. What'll happen to the twenty-something (?) kid now ?

What an album that first one was, with Teddy Wilson ( :jump: ) and Zoot Sims.

Kid passed in '07. She was a loving ma.

Not only Z. Sims & TW but David Bromberg, Steve Gadd, Ralph & Hugh McDonald, Bob James, +

She was smooth.

I distinctly remember a weekend with that LP and a delight named, Belinda. She was the end of the world in looks. Not a smart girl.

I remember reading an article about her and how she devoted her life in
caring for her daughter , some years back . Brought me to tears.
Amazing women with a a voice that matched . RIP!
