I hope that some folks hit this today!! I can't believe that I missed the 8th Race with the #4. The surface change from dirt to turf, so, I missed him when he was clearly the obvious strongest choice in the field with a past Beyer of 113. What a frigg'in idiot I am.

Have a great weekend of Racing and a Happy Easter everyone.

I could have used your five in the last leg.
I was alive on to the #1 for $1600....For a few strides I though she might win but the 5 came and nailed her in the last couple strides.

close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades!!!

Excellent Capping GatetoWire:

That is a very tough beat (a freak'in neck) in the final leg. It is definitely a hard pill to swallow. However, you were alive to the last leg and that is what it is all about.

I guess that it is on to the next series of races. Once again, Terrific Job!! Have a wonderful Easter Holiday. :)

I also was live with the :1: The only way I would have used the :5: with Ariel Smith was hit the ALL button.

Very good work. Using the # 5 as an "only" in the last, you had the late p4, p3 and last double. You surely could have had the p6 with any luck. Next time.

Vinnie, you put together a real nice ticket even though you did not hit it. How did you single the 5 in the last leg? 0 for 66 jockey, winless trainer. What did you see?

Menifee and Exotic1:

Happy Easter to you and yours. I sincerely appreciate your kind words. I am not trying to spur on any sort of debate, however, this is what I pretty much try to look for everyday in my own handicapping. I am sure just like a lot of folks through their own handicapping, I am attempting to find which horses in the race that may just be regressing a tad and aren't in line for their best effort today, and, I am also looking to find those improving horses (through their own capability constants) or what they have shown on the track to this point, plus some obvious signs of being on the improve. Honestly, I wasn't aware of the fact that that the jockey was 0 for 66 and the trainer was winless for the #5 horse in this particular race.

To be totally honest, I have enough difficulty in just concerning myself with the horses in the race, let alone the trainer intent. I guess that stuck with me through Doc Sartin and the teachings of the Sartin Methodology. Very few of the horses that run out there are of the "push button" variety. They are going to do whatever they are going to do, never mind the jockey or trainer intent. :)

I use Computrak to a great extent and in most races I can find which horses are showing the most imporement or improvement potential and which might be going backwards just a bit. In the race a Maiden event for 25,000 at 9F on the Turf. I was looking primarily at the folowing using CT..

For BT (Best Predicted Time) it was the 11-5 (tied) and the #1 a few ticks slower but run at a distance of 8.5 furlongs. The #11 never wins and through his PP's shows that he always sputters coming down the stretch essentially in every PP he has. I threw him out. Best RT (Recent Time) was the 5,1, and 12. The 5's time was at 8.0 furlongs and was 3 ticks faster than the #1 who last ran at a distance of 8.5 furlongs. This is something to strongly consider. The final kicker and separater for me, and it just so happened to work out for me this time was, when checking RES and RF (Recent Speed and Recent Friction the #5 was 2nd in both categories behind the #13. The #13 clearly shows that he always falters late in the race, so, once again, he wasn't in all likelihood going to be a factor either. I liked the #5 with the #1 just behind, and to be honest the #12 was right there at third fastest in my estimation and the #6 was right there close behind.

The result was 5-1-6-12 for a $1 super of $2,081.40 which is pretty sweet. I don't play too many supers, so, unfortunately for me, I didn't bet the race. However, it would have worked out perfectly well in this instance. :)

Thanks again for the positive comments folks! I appreciate it very much.

Happy Easter and Great Capping to you Always.
