With the big carryover plus the millions that will be spread around tomorrow, the play to me looks like a chalky $50 bucks or so worth of dime plays. I know the fields are huge and there aren't that many standouts, but a combo that would normally pay $5,000 for $2 (or $250 for the dime) will probably pay four digits, and maybe reasonable four digits. I figure that's the only way to take advantage of the syndicates.

Oh, and I'll predict $2,800.

Its got a great chance to pay at least 2k for a dime. If this was a normal pick 6 day with a 2 dollar base, a pick 6 of 100k would not be out of the realm of possibility and that might even be light.

if a 30-1 pops in one of the legs, this thing can pay boxcars.

That's my approach. After capping the races the best plan for me is a base ticket of around 40 to 50 dollars and a scramble with smaller tickets for more spread coverage. I can't compete the the big tickets. If a bomb explodes I'm toast. If I capped right I have a shot at a dime or two. The bet has value. I'm not a pick six player, yet I'll get involved with this one.

Damn Loch Ness Monster.

I say it'll pay about 4k if it's fairly chalky, and if we get a few that pay over $20 it'll pay around 15K.

Bloodbath at GP, the entire world is alive heaading into the last leg, anyone who put in a huge ticket got crushed.

The highest winner was what, 4-1?

I dont know about you, but it appeared like there were some wide open races and yet, the chalk is dominating again.

Yup, chalkfest, though it didn't look like that (to me anyway) on paper. If my calculations are correct, the TwinSpires pool will hit a payoff between $3279.26 (if the 5 wins the last race) to a high of $53,922.77 (if the 13 wins).

Getting back half your money when nothing but chalk has been winning - not so bad, I guess.....

Amazingly good price considering the pick 5 paid 200 for 10 cents.

Anyone know what the Twinspires Players Pool paid back? I do hope they played more than just 1 big $100k ticket...

They may have had multiple tickets at varying prices so it may not have been as bad as that. However they would have had to have had it 31 times to barley break even.

I'm told they only hit it once. The best they could have done was the #13 for a total 53k.10c. 10 times.

In the words of John McEnroe......"You CANNOT be SERIOUS!!!!"

Well, if these guys can drop 90K in the 2005 Breeders' Cup by leaving the 15-1 Bobby Frankel trained Intercontinental out of the F/M Turf in Leg 1, I suppose I can believe this.

The guy who said they should have played their ticket on Friday got it right.

I didn't see a 5 outta 6 payoff.
Is this the norm on closing days with mandatory payouts? (presuming someone got 6 of 6).

Gotta laugh at myself (join in if you like):
Had 4/5 going into the last leg with the 2-9 on my ticket.
Sittin there thinkin, "whoa...might get 5/6"
Then I thought, "so would 125,000 other folks so my conso will be $3.00"
Then I saw the payoffs with no 5/6 conso and again said, "whoa"
That's where I started laughing.

It's one of the few areas I disagree with Steven Christ about. It seems double carryovers and the like are hit by multiple winners with enough frequency that I would approach a fresh pool, often having only minimal winning tickets, with more anticipation if I had his wagering capital. (I am aware of the takeout advantages in a carryover).

There are no consos on the bet unless no one hits. Never have been.

I read on another board that they had it for twenty cents. A real ass kicking.:D

Isn't there a 5/6 conso on normal days, even when 6/6 is hit?

Does anyone know what the actual takeout is for the pick 6 at GP and is that takeout the same as pick 3s, pick 4s etc?

Thanks.
