Its a generally accepted fact that there are 5280 feet in a mile. No one can deny that. But does a harness horse lugging a sulky behind him travels that distance or more than that. The answer is yes he travels more. 50 feet more.

First time its happened in many many moons that a horse leaving from post position one and hugging the rail goes wire to wire at Woodbine. It happened in the 3rd race on April 15 with Bold Barry and Jody Jamieson driving him.

The distance he traveled as reported by trackus is 5330 feet.

In the next race Icey Breeze wired the field from the 5 hole he traveled the distance 8 feet extra with 5338.

So all you guys who do their calculations as the distance traveled by a harness horse is 5280 feet in a mile please make a note of it.
