Gotta another newbie question... When horses are flown to a track, are they drugged for the flight to prevent them from self injury due to panic ? What's the normal procedure... ?

Being in a plane has got to be a pretty strange experience for a horse, so I wonder how it is done..

Search horse transportation online and email. I think they want the horse alert while flyhing. Pretty routine.

Interesting question although I would think that sedatives would show up in the post race testing.

after looking on google

"Horses can be shipped many ways. Including:
1.) Airplane
A friend of mine does Young Riders for Dressage and when she needs to get her horse somewhere far, she will ship him by airplane. (She was flying from the west coast to the East Coast) This transportation can be quite expensive, especially if you think about what you have to do to get your horse on\off the plane as well as calming drugs etc. (You think first class is expensive for us humans…you haven’t even see the horse airplane bills…lol)"

But that is for equestrian horses...
