BOSTON MAYOR TAKES ON SUGARY DRINKS
City of Boston Mayor Tom Menino signed an executive order (http://cbsboston.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/4-7-11_exec-order-sugary-beverages.pdf), Thursday, banning the sale, promotion and advertising of sugary drinks on government-owned property. The order requires departments under the city government to take steps to comply with the ban within six months.

“I want to create a civic environment that makes the healthier choice the easier choice in people’s lives, whether it’s schools, worksites, or other places in the community,” Menino said in a statement after the ban was announced.

I know a guy that works for a company that does mechanical work for some of the big soda companies. He was told by one of the employees that the sugar free and non sugar substitutes cost less to make, which is contrary to popular belief.

If that is true, what do you want to bet the price of soda does not come down. Also, as America gets healthier, will the cost of insurance come down?

I doubt it.

This is smoke.
