The regulator had recently started to permit some deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Royal Dutch Shell won approval on Wednesday to drill off the coast of Louisiana on the condition that rigorous new safety standards were met. Other companies that have been allowed to continue drilling in the region include Exxon Mobil, Chevron and BHP Billiton.

As the article notes, it's a delicate situation for the Obama administration. Typically, you allow your personal contempt for the man to cloud your perception.

I also note this thread from the summer, where you chastise Obama for not getting drilling back up immediately. Of course you add the inevitable, "drill, baby, drill."

And you have seen many repugs and cons on here blast Bush for his policies. What you rarely if ever see is libs and dems on here blast Obama.

obama just kicked off his campagn. they say its going to take $1billion with a B to win this stupid election. that only means the other side is going to spend the same $1billion with a B to try to fool the same people.
