I went to a track tonight that has video slots. Never played them. Zero interest but i figured id play. THe unwritten rule always is "YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE MAX".. im guessing this doesn't apply for these ridiculous things. I sat my girlfriend down and put $20. What ever happened to max bet on a .25 machine 75 cents? These things have 20-100 lines. We played a nickel machine and the max spin was $9!! We were spending $9 per spin. I hate slots, and video slots, but atleast the regular ones you can spend a few mins at. I can't imagine these things being that popular. I dont get it

We went to a penny one. It was 200 credits a pull ($2).. we checked every single machine. There is no machine that is like a regular slot.. Those things are so stupid i can't believe how busy it was!

You should hear what the slot players say about horse players. "I can't believe you bet a 20% takeout, how dumb is that?" One once told me. All I could say was "Touche".

i haven't played in a while, but in NY & RI, State-Lottery run Video Slots run off 1 main computer, so "max bet" is only window dressing.
When i went to Foxwoods or Mohegan,(traditional slot format) if it was 9-line game, i'd play 3 lines MAX CREDITS. A $.25 Game, playing 3 Lines x $1.25/line MAX, made it a little more affordable at $3.75 a pull. That being said, for a fair chance of "only" losing 10% of your bankroll on average, you would need to churn at least $200 thru a $.25 machine per session.

ok couple of weeks ago the wife and i are at the meadows. we leave around 6. the casino has drawing every hour calling several names out for $1000.00 free slot play. they called my wifes name after we left. came back 6 days later and found she still had the play for just one more day! ok she hits the high limt slots(1 pull $20.00) plays about 450 of it and wins some money. she says
"i'm going to the quarters and dollars". didn't win much after that
it has been said the best plays are the video poker machines.

i met a guy in atlantic city that claimed he made a living playing poker machines all over the country with his wife. i have no clue how he did it but he did say that he could only win on certain machine's. also he only won with his casino card. he also said he didn't make big money, but i did watch him and his wife play a dollar machine for around ten minutes and they must have stuck about $300 in them in that time frame. he only claimed to make something like $200 for the whole day he spent infront of those machines.

video poker players are like horse players..
they can always tell you how much they won..without..remembering how much they put in..
that being said, video poker is one of the best bets if you play with max coins and have a basic knowledge of poker, and play 9-5 machines and up..that means 9 coins back for every one entered for full house..5 to 1 for flushes..
that being said, i dropped $65 this morning on my free breakfast..

If you absolutely must play a mechanical monster, learn to play video poker. Completely different game than slot machines. There are a few VP machines, very few, that actually have a tiny positive expectation of a few hundreths of a percentage point. They require totally correct playing decisions and a very long, long playing time to show a profit. Most VP machines, do of course, have a minus expectation, but some are not too bad if played for recreation. For example, a full pay Jacks or Bettter machine with a 9-6-4 payoff on a full house, flush, and straight, has an EV of 99.544%. Lots of books and a few pretty good websites on locations of the best machines, and the best strategy.

I'm shocked that a slots player even knew about take out.

I'm shocked that a slots player even knew about take out.Not only she did she know about, but she knew which slot machines returned the most money. Even though she played for entertainment, she had done her homework. She knew more about gambling than anyone I ever met. She was a very good card counter and never has been ban in over 30 years of doing it. She seldom plays Black jack anymore because she thinks it is way too much work. She thought the ponies were such bad bets that they didn't even have entertainment value. My idea of entertainment is not putting money into slots, but to each his own.
