I am getting a freeze up of everything but my mouse all the time but it
does not last. It will freeze for a minute or maybe a little less and then work
normal for a little while and then freeze again. If i click a coupla times the
screen will fade a little and then will come back to normal after a minute or so
and be normal again. Its like it cant find the page or site i'm looking for.
(it just did it again while i was typing this) On top of my screen it says
internet explorer is not responding. i'm using vista and ie 8

1) Try turning off your AVR software.
2) Are you updates set to automatic downloads and installation?
3) What other software's do you have installed that are working in the background and hogging system resources?
4) what brand and model of computer do you have and how much memory is installed?
5) Is you power supply (surge protector and/or wall receptacle) overloaded?

I'm sure there are many more possibilities that I've omitted.

How much free hard drive space do you have? If it's not very much, try clearing up some space, trying to get at least 15% free. If you don't have enough RAM, Windows will try to use hard drive space as virtual memory (there are settings for how much and how it does it).

I got rid of defraggler, crapcleaner, and spybot and turned off my av program.
That fixed my problem. Too much garbage running.
Thank you all for your help.

Most of these software's are fine tools, however required configuration beyond the basic install (which most people fail to do), so that the software runs in a non-peak period, rather than your most active on your computer.

Most AV software's are BIG resource hogs.
