It's not often you would hear someone refer to a sprinter as a candidate for the best horse in the world.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but she hasn't gone beyond 6F.
Looking forward to watching her run in 20 minutes, though.
Thanks for the thread!

That would be something to see.......

All 10 of her races/wins have been open, gender-wise.Unbelievably impressive, and how racing at the top should always be conducted...running the best against the best available to prove you are indeed the best...

What a novel concept, especially here in the USA

WOW...have we ever had an Aussie horse run in the Breeders Cup? I wonder if she can go longer.
I did notice her tail swishing when she began to leave the pack, and looked like she kinda tucked her butt in when the jock gave her a hit... regardless...10-0:ThmbUp:

Chances are very slim for 2011.

The trainer basically said (on ATR) that if someone wants to take her on, they are welcome to, but they'll have to come to Australia because he thinks that Australian sprinters are among the toughest in the world.

However, if she stays as she is, they will look into traveling with her to the major sprints around the world (Hong Kong, Ascot, Meydan) next season.

Staying in your home area and making others come take you on, tisk, tisk.

Seabiscuit@AR

What gm10 writes is correct. Trainer and owners have so far only raced her in one state of Australia and want to race her round Australia before taking her overseas. Her next run will be in Sydney and if she is still going OK he will take her to Queensland for 1 or 2 runs. Queensland is the home state of trainer Peter Moody and my guess is he would like to race her there. This campaign rules out Royal Ascot in 2011

Her first overseas race will likely be in Hong Kong for the international day in December this year

There's a novel idea.

"We have the best turf sprinter in the world. If you think you can beat her, you know where to find us".

I see no reason they should have to travel to prove what they already know unless there is an economic reason to do so. From the sound of it, there's not much of an incentive given that there are Grade 1 races with purses like that available.

It seems like countries that have a lot of high level turf sprinters should be shipping there for a piece of the action.

Not to rain on her parade at all because I'm sure she's a very high quality filly even though I don't know much about her competition, but the gap between the best fillies and colts tends to be much smaller in sprints and on turf than in routes and on dirt. So it would not shock me if the gap between fillies and colts in turf sprints is almost non existent. I haven't been able to research it much in the US because higher quality turf sprinting is relatively new here.

A colt going 10 for 10 against the best older colt turf sprinters would be awesome. So for a filly to do it is even bigger, but it's not the same as a filly/mare going 10 for 10 against older Grade 1 males at 9F-10F on dirt. The latter will never happen. When it happens once, it's huge.

Let's see her go a mile and let's see her take on Goldikova. That would be fun.

Probably, she'd get pasted.

We don't know that she is a miler, though. She is fine doing what she does.

It's a little much to declare her the best "anything" in the world, and I am a huge Aussie racing fan.

How do you think she'd fit against Rocket Man?

Seabiscuit@AR
03-31-2011, 07:59 PM
Black Caviar would handle the likes of JJ The Jet Plane and Rocket Man no problems. Ortensia finished 1.8 lengths behind this pair in Hong Kong in the HK Sprint in December. Ortensia faced Black Caviar in her lead up run before going to HK and was beaten by 6.3 lengths. Now you might say Ortensia ran better in HK than she did vs Black Caviar and maybe she did. But Ortensia is a fairly consistent horse and her getting thrashed by Black Caviar fits with the form of both horses throughout their careers

Black Caviar is that good and is a horse you can talk about in terms of best ever sprinter

As for Goldikova. Well if Goldikova raced Black Caviar over 1200m then I would expect Black Caviar to win, Goldikova would not have the speed. Over 1600m I would expect Goldikova to win as I doubt Black Caviar can run 1600m anywhere near as well as she can run 1200m. However my guess is that Black Caviar is better at running 1200m races than Goldikova is at running 1600m races

The BEST horse in the world does it again at Randwick in Sydney.
Had to work a bit this time, but the 2nd horse had won 13 out of 17.
