I need to get thoroughbred race results for all thoroughbred tracks in the United States, all races for 2011.

I need them in an easy to use format like csv.

I have searched far and wide and I can't find anything. equibase has all the races but it is in their stupid format where you have to click 15 times to get 1 race results.

Any help is appreciated.

Brisnet.com sells something called an Exotic Results data file for 25 cents each. They also sell more detailed charts text files at a higher price.

The file formats are listed on their site here:
http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/static.cgi?page=resultdata

If you want results files on an ongoing basis (all thoroughbred races in North America) an alternative worth considering might be the free version of JCapper Silver in conjunction with an HDW JCapper Silver data subscription.

HDW JCapper Silver data subscriptions are priced at $89 per month. You get unlimited file downloads - both data and results - for all thoroughbred races run in North America each month.

If you went the HDW-JCapper route, you could:

1. Use the built in ability of the Silver program to export your own comma delimited text results files (equivalent format to the Bris .xrd file above.) Of course your files would be populated with HDW data instead of brisnet data.

or-

2. Simply use the HDW charts text files that come with the HDW JCapper Silver data subscription. These are full charts files -- comma delimited text --data file format available upon request.

...I have searched far and wide and I can't find anything. equibase has all the races but it is in their stupid format where you have to click 15 times to get 1 race results.
I'd be remiss if i didn't point out that JCapper Silver comes with a File Download App that enables you to queue up all of the files that HDW has available for download on their site. A click of the Synch to Disc button causes the app to scan your hard drive for files that you already have - immediately followed by placing all of the files on the HDW site that you don't already have onto a download list. From there, a click of the Download button causes every file on the download list to be saved to your hard drive. (VERY easy to operate once you've done it a few times.)

Jeff,

A quick question on the output files. I am not familar with the output file extensions after they are unzipped but would these files work on any software that handles .drf and xrd extensions.

Thanks.

They've been tested and work in a number of 3rd party apps/spreadsheets:

1. Equisim V5, V6

2. Modern Pace Handicapping

3. Work Horse Pro 2.0

4. Aodds Super Gold 98 for Windows (with the Brisnet conversion file.)

5. APlus 10.0

6. Raybo's All Data Spreadsheet

7. Handifast

.JCP files do not render in Brisnet's Past Performance Generator. Brisnet appears to be embedding special "codes" in their files as a way of ensuring that their Past Performance Generator be used to render Brisnet files only.

That said, all versions of JCapper (including the FREE version of JCapper Silver) offer a pretty good PPs Generator in its own right. There are several user customization options available through JCapper's Enhanced Settings Module.

Here are some links that should give you a basic idea as to the look and feel of JCapper PPs:

As a follow up to the above question, here's a link to a zip file containing a .JCP file and an .XRD file for the card run at Tampa Bay Downs this past Saturday 3/5/2011:
http://www.jcapper.com/messageboard/reports/TAM03052011.zip

To test compatibility for files created by JCapper Silver's file export routine with the app/spreadsheet that you are running:

1. Download the zip file to your hard drive and extract the contents onto a target folder your app/spreadsheet can be pointed at.

2. Rename the .jcp file so that it has a file extension of .drf.

3. Load the .drf file into your app/spreadsheet and have at it.

Curious,

The DRF sells annual unlimited charts on all US & Canada and a few others for $799/year. You can download them by the month to catch up, then unzip them and save for your use. Follow the Results, Chart Information, Text Charts path to see details.

These have improved over the past few years, with uniformity of presentation a former issue. There remains some missing data items for some tracks, so have good null handler.

Thanks for the tam file to experiment with. It worked on several of my software models including Aodds and WH. POL didn't like the file. It would have been nice since POL needs the .xrd results file whereas Aodds and WH utilizes the free bris results file. Overall when compared to the TSN advantage plan that no longer exists, this is a reasonable alternative.

Do the files contain all tracks together or do you have one file per track?
