there is no reward for responsible spending, on the contrary our society rewards those who act the most irresponsible. when you authorize folks to spend huge amounts of other peoples money, it's inevitable that it will be squandered.

As long as we allow office holders multiple term and a general immunity to the real world, it will never change. Single term limits for every elected office is the only acceptable thing. And no pay, no bennies, no perks,no insurance, no nothing - you pay your own damn way. Don't like it, don't run.
