But tax forms recently made public show that Democrats have not been immune from collecting corporate funds to help its politicians gain an electoral edge. The Democratic Governors Association vacuumed up $11.6 million in contributions -- mostly from corporations and unions -- during the second half of 2009. For the year, DGA raised $23.1 million, a record.

Democrats are organizing new independent, non-party campaign committees to pour big money into the White House and Senate contests, and a House-focused outside group might be next. At least one of the new groups will run a nonprofit that operates outside the disclosure rules--despite attacks by President Obama and congressional Democrats on such "shadowy," little-regulated campaign organizations last year.

As luck would have it—or not, if you’re Maddow—the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics (http://www.opensecrets.org/overview/topcontribs.php?Bkdn=DemRep&Cycle=2010) lists the top hundred donors. The chart at their website, OpenSecrets.org, reveals that Maddow had her statistics completely backward. Of the top ten donors, seven favored Democrats over Republicans. Far and away the largest contributor, ActBlue, donated 100% of its $26,343,369 contribution to Democratic candidates and 0% to Republicans.

Politicians are whores and will sleep with anyone that pays. Corporations sleep with republicans, as well as democrats and are equal opportunity employers. Usually, it's a threesome.

Add in entrenched bureaucrats and it's a veritable orgy.

It looks like this thread has gone "off track."
Every time I look at these lists and the amount of money involved with corporations, unions and special interests it reminds of how commercialized our election process has become with constant bombardment with radio, TV,mini documentary's, and these PACS who raise massive sums to declare war on each other..Dems vs. Reps and vice
versa. Might as well move Washington to Madison avenue.
I could have sworn the Constitution began with the words, "We the People," and not "We, the Corporations."

I never understood a corporation, or any entity, donating to a politician...once I see a corporation walk into a voting booth and make a selection, then I'll believe it should be able to give to campaigns.

Does anyone out there agree that we the working class are in control of NOTHING and that we are being manipulated every single fu---ng day of our lives by those in charge of the financial system in the USA.

And to add- we are controlled by the financiers of the national elections.

For the most part, real democracy in this country is over !!

As the thread moves in another direction we've been able to debunk yet another assumption. Corp poli-contributions DO NOT go heavily in favor for Republicons.

Mark it in your diary and spread the truth amongst your comrades.

This also nicely explains why BO has played the harlot with Corporatist, and why there are so many millionaire "anti-capitalist", limousine Dems.
