In honor of The Factor's possible next start (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/61507/baffert-targets-sunland-derby-for-the-factor) ...

Sunland (to the tune of Graceland)

NXn-iY7bJTU

The great Kentucky Derby is shining
Like a rainbow’s pot of gold
I am following the fever
To a place near
Matt Winn’s winter racetrack in Juarez

I’m going to Sunland, Sunland
In New Mexico
I’m going to Sunland
Poor colts and geldings with Derby Dreams
And we are going to Sunland

My traveling companion is three years old
He is the son of a good broodmare
And I’ve reason to believe
We will earn what we need
At Sunland

Trainer calls me to say he’s goin'
As if I didn’t know that
As if I couldn’t read the earnings
As if I’d never noticed
The purse they offer for their big race

And he said losing hope
Is like a window in your heart
Everybody’s sees you’re blown apart
Everybody sees the dream’s gone

I’m going to Sunland
In New Mexico
I’m going to Sunland
Poor colts and geldings with Derby dreams
And we are going to Sunland

And his race time companions
Are marked by low speed figures
I’m looking at lots of low figs
Thus, I've reason to believe
We will earn what we need
At Sunland

There’s a gelding, Mine That Bird
That won the Derby after running here
And sometimes when I’m feeling flustered
Drowning in despair I think
Whoa now this can still be done
That’s why we’re shipping into Sunland
And I see losing hope
As like a window in your heart
Everybody sees you’re blown apart
Everybody sees the dream go

At Sunland, Sunland
I’m going to Sunland,
For reasons I cannot explain
There’s some part of me that
Wants to see Sunland
And I may be obliged to defend
A really poor showing
Or maybe there’s no obligations then
But, I’ve still reason to believe
We will earn what we need
At Sunland

Ooo, Sunland, Sunland, Sunland
I’m going to Sunland

Cella (to the tune of Cecilia)

a5_QV97eYqM

Cella, you’re breaking my heart
You’re shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Chuck Cella, I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you please be my friend

Cella, you’re breaking my heart
You’re shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Chuck Cella, I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you please be my friend

Making bets in the afternoon with Chuck Cella
Oaklawn Park’s tycoon (making bets)
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to watch
I have lost the fifth race.

Cella, you’re breaking my heart
You’re shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Chuck Cella, I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you please be my friend
Be my friend

Jubilation, he still is my friend
I hit the Pick 4 and I'm laughing
Jubilation, he still is my friend
I hit the Pick 4 and I'm laughing

Derby Bound (to the tune of Homeward Bound)

sI0enx_Jnqc

I’m standing in the starting gate
For a ticket to that special May date
On a tour of winter tracks
My trusty jockey on my back
And every stop another hack
At graded money that I lack

Derby bound,
I going to be,
Derby bound,
There, in the Spires’ shading
There, where Steve Foster’s playing
There, the rose garland’s waiting
Silently for me.

Every month’s an endless stream
Of sharp workouts aimed at the dream
And success I can’t guarantee,
Though I’m a TC nominee
And every purse check that I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Derby bound,
I want to be,
Derby bound,
There, in the Spires’ shading
There, where Steve Foster’s playing
There, the rose garland’s waiting
Silently for me.

Today I’ll try my luck again
I’ll run my race and hope to win
But if the effort that you see
Proclaims my mediocrity
The emptiness inside of me
Will be the fading of my dream

Derby bound,
I wish I was,
Derby bound,
There, in the Spires’ shading
There, where Steve Foster’s playing
There, the rose garland’s waiting
For someone, not me.
For someone, not me.

The Triple Crown (to the tune of America)

W773ZPJhcVw

“Let us be clear now, I think he can win all three races”
“He’s got a real chance, that I’ll not deny.”
So we ordered a hearty breakfast at Mr. Wagner’s shop
Then we walked back to vie for the Triple Crown

“Splendid,” I said as we loaded him to ship to Balt’more
“Prep season seems like a dream to me now
It took us four months to compile enough earnings
We’re on the road to the Triple Crown.”

Laughing at the barn
Playing games with the turf press
She said the man with the baked potato was a spy.
I said “Be careful I think that his spud’s not organic.”

“Toss me the Pepto, I think there’s some in my raincoat.”
“You drank the last bit an hour ago.”
So, I looked at the post parade, she read the DRF
And he romped over a solid field

“What if he lost,” I said, though I knew none could hear me.
“The grandstand is filling to watch the big race.”
Look at the cars on the Cross Island Parkway
They've all come to witness a Triple Crown
All come to witness a Triple Crown
All come to witness a Triple Crown

Excellent 'tunes' and excellent play on words by all:ThmbUp: ...after the Derby is run, you might have to add another one about Uncle Mo..."Bridge Over Troubled Water" ;)
