Seriously, it is high time that Somalia ceased to exist, and every POS that lives there. Time to wipe them off the face of the earth.

There is no reason to allow pirates to exist.

I have a much better idea. BO should send a negotiation committee over there headed up by Hillary and to include such illustrious political stars as Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and The Revvvvvvrend Jackson. Guaranteed we'll never hear from these people again. :D

Would you like some cheese to go with that wine? I think I will bet my two dollars that won't happen.

Well, it was a good fantasy, though. :D

I'm angered these folks were murdered. At the same time, I'm angry they put themselves in harm's way. These weren't children told not to touch a hot iron. Instead, responsible adults full aware of the danger.

There are certain places you just don't go. The Somali coast being one of them.

and who has jurisdiction over there? I think those people need to be wiped out. But who is going to do it?

Can't do that..........

Who would Baltimore have left to be their "Sister City" Country, Whatever?

Then we owe it to ourselves to obliterate those places.
Use our technology to sink every single craft going to or coming from there.
Declare Somalia not fit to exist.

It has been obliterated. That's why it is like that -- no government. Unless you can find a way to actually make the land fall into the sea people are going to occupy it.

Somalia has been in a state of turmoil, fighting and anarchy for the last 20 years. Somalia is one of the worst humanitarian situations in the world, with 3.2 million people in need of assistance.
The country is a disaster.People are starving, health and sanitary issues ie. malaria, aids, dysentery abound,no security. This is sub human life form and would probably disappear off the face of the earth if it were not for aid from the U.S and UN.These pirates are a product of this situation, and represent a threat for anyone who is near their coast. Surprised that they killed these people as they usually use them a hostages for ransom. Do we send the Navy in and patrol the coastline and escort our ships. It appears some sort of maritime security arrangement should be set up even if it is paid mercenaries as the pirates have hijacked oil tankers.

Now, Tom. Just a very light scolding from our Chief should be enough to turn their lives around. These misunderstood pirates have had a very rough time of it. After all, if they had better connections, they might be over here "serving" in our government. How lucky we would be, too. :jump: .

As for the victims, they were probably religious zealots who would sooner or later turn into gunlovers. We can't have just any civilians sailing the seas. It's not orderly. .

Tom, you need to recognize that protecting America's interests is off the table. It's now about reaching out to our Muslim brethren (careful; you might get that hand chopped off !) and celebrating geniuses like Muhammad Ali, the world's second greatest uniter. Say, might Maya Angelou have an ode to Somalis who just wanna be free ? Maybe Bill Russell can chime in. I know I hang on his every word.

Pirates brave enough to kill citizens right in front of our Navy....that' all that world respect mostie said OBama woudl bring home.

Isn't that not allowed by the UN?
I thought ships were not allowed to fire on pirates?

Ahh...interesting take. So, would you say, those four people experienced a Job 4:8 moment?

It has been reported that they they had requested escort security and were turned down , they still kept there plans and they have been posting their
destinations online and on Facebook.Very risky idea.
I am certain they were warned , it's very unfortunate to have fallen into the
hands of Barbarians , but honestly you couldn't pay me to go near that
Hellhole over there. Very Sad News.

Do not know the rules of Naval(military) engagement as it pertains to this situation. If the pirates engaged our ships ....would we not return fire to protect the crew?

If mercenaries(security)escorts were hired by ship companies to protect cargo and crew. Do not know what maritime law says about this. One thing for sure, maritime insurance underwriters must have restrictions in place in this area for damage to cargo and hull.

Riskman , the president gave orders to our Military to be ready to move in
and apprehend and or take down these pirates if they attempted to harm these four . I have to say that our government knew this was not going to be
the usual ransom and eventual release , when they sentenced a fellow
pirate to 33 years in prison in NY three days ago , the situation over there
became even more dangerous.
Their message is clear , we should not arrest them , now they are looking for
blood.

A question of priorities. Look who we have as our CIC. Do you think for a minute that Obama would approve any daring rescue plan when it comes to hostages in Somalia. As usual with him, he takes his sweet time....order stand down!

Of course not, we should kill them, and should have done so long ago. One effective way would be to set up a naval blockade outside their ports. Intercept, stop and search them before they reach the shipping lanes. If they resist or try to flee, sink them. A pair of destroyers or frigates just outside each pirate port would do fine. To play rougher, a precision cruise missile or aircraft strike could be launched. Surely by now our intel has pinpointed key potential targets such as motherships, docks, and headquarters that the pirates use.

Would that intel come from the same source we received intelligence on about Egypt?

This isn't the first time this has happened. It won't be the last till we stand up for our selves. Talk will not change their minds. The UN will do nothing.

Provide US Naval escorts. When one of their little boats approach, blow them out of the water. No questions asked. After the third or fourth time, this s.... will stop.

The only problem we have right now is that Obama will not issue the order against any muslim.
