Mike Smith and Santiva

Not sure if he could have ridden this one any better, and I can't complain too much because I had the exacta with him finishing second, BUT...

I like Mikey as a rider, but I can't help but wonder how many MILES of ground he has lost in his career. Probably could go to the moon and back!

Has anyone EVER seen him save any ground to move a horse up?

Yes...not many, but a few. Just don't ask me which races...but I do know that those times I would say to myself.."self, look at Mike...down on the rail"

I had a pretty great day betting the Fair Grounds...love this track.

I was excited about this race because of Rogue Romance....I try to follow all of the Smarty babies.

Anyway, I guess I'm hijacking this thread, but what the heck was the #2 Liondrive doing in this race??? This was a horse that I threw out, but then I kept going back and finally had to put him in because I just couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. :confused:

You're right, Shelby, that one was a throwout for me. Not sure if I'm ready to write off Machen or not out of that race; inclined to keep him on the short list, and figuring he was still a little green.

I bet Mike Smith today on # 3 Telling.
He must have thought that he was on Zenyatta.
# 3 Telling....ran last and finished well up the track.
In the rearview mirror, I'm not sure what ride he was really there for.
