i would imagine, with homeland security and the state department having no clue as what was about to happen in egypt (they're more concerned with horseplayers and seizing internet sites pirating the WWE), that this wave of "freedom and democracy" sweeping the region may be very, very contagous.

who falls next ? i think the sheiks in dubai must be very uncomfortable and
certainly don't view obama as any kind of a supporter of a regieme in power over a group of people who also must feel oppressed.

They are Iran's bankers. I hope they feel really uncomfortable. None of those guys have really been our friends. I hope the Saudi royal family is the next to go.

Robert, you're more delusional, than even I could imagine, if you believe for a moment that true democracies will fill all these political voids in the Middle East. They will not! Islam has never been about freedom, democracy and capitalism, nor will it ever be. At its core, Islam, like socialism is politically collective and religiously theocratic. As I have often stated, Islam and Democracy are like oil and water. They will never mix. Trust me on this. I know more about Islam than you have forgotten.

What is happening currently in the Middle East does not bode well at all for the entire world, especially here in the U.S. where our leaders adamantly and steadfastly refuse to allow us to seek our own oil independence. The radicals in the Middle East will eventually use their oil supplies as weapons against the world, and they will use oil revenues to become nuclear states. China and Russia will be happy to assist any rich nation in achieving its nuclear goals. Don't forget: China, Russia, North Korea and virtually all Muslim nations on the face of this earth have two common enemies. Feel free to connect the remaining dots.

I think you are the one that is delusional. Where do you think the terrorist get their money now, the DAR? Russia has a big of problem with Moslem terrorists as we do. Did you forget Moslem terrorists set off a bomb in Moscow's biggest airport last month? China has some problems too, but they do a pretty good job of keep it quiet. 17 of the 19 9/11 terrorist came from "our friends" Saudi Arabia. All of there money came from there or did you forget that. A change in governments over there can't make things any worse. It might change for the better, but probably not. When you wake up, none of the people in power over there now is our friend. Taking our money does not make them our friend, it just make us suckers.

Yes, the Saudis are paying the terrorists extortion money -- protection money, if you will! These terrorists are no better than American-style Mafia thugs. But if the day should come when the thugs realize that they could be so much richer by taking ownership of the oil fields, it's all over.

And, yes, Russia has some problems close to home, but you should not forget that the Ruskies will side with anyone who has a common enemy with them. And the common enemies are America and Israel. Muslims are more of a headache to Russia right now than anything else because at the end of the day, the Muslims know they're not dealing with American-style appeasers. The Russians will come after them and kill them. End of story! The Ruskies aren't very concerned with observing Political Correctness protocols. The Russians will "rush to judgment" -- they will shoot first and ask questions later, whenever they think it's appropriate.

And it's not as though the entire Muslim world is up in arms over Russia. Their problems are more "homegrown". Tell me, Mr. Goren, when was the last time you heard any major Islamic cleric denounce Russia? When was the last time Russia was called the "great Satan"?  By contrast, tell me when was the last time some major cleric or some major Islamic statesman denounced America and/or Israel? And tell me: Who was it that helped Iran greatly to get into the nuclear club?

And I'm the one delusional?

Petroleum prices could easily double. Of course, that would be just the tip of the iceberg.

Unless you have some inside skinny on BO that I don't have, I think there's a better chance for a tidal wave engulfing all N.A. before he okays drilling.

not if we start pumping our own and stop buying from countries who hate us..That a great idea except Europe and China will still have to continue to buy from them and they will still have money to fund the terrorists. What we need to do is get rid of the need for anyone to use their oil. Then everybody can tell them where to put their oil. No more money for the terrorists from anyone.

By the time someone comes up with AFFORDABLE energy alternatives, the Muslims will have conquered the world, Robert.

However, if your manchild Obama would let us tap into our own VAST oil reserves, we'd not only buy precious R&D time for alternatives, but we'd be able to service Europe, China and then some. But BO wants to make good on his promise to "fundamentally transform the face of America", which could well be to crash our economy. That event would certainly qualify.

You think that if it's an American company drilling in America that the oil will be cheaper?

It don't work that way.

gadhafy's teetering, as this revolution continues to spread throughout the arab world.

will that big jet from saudi arabia be taking a prolonged visit to the lexington airport ?

got a serious question, though. i'm not religious, certainly no student of the bible. seems as though people, all over the globe, are rising up against their governments. the arab world, right here in wisconsin, our tea party etc. seems as though average people are just sick of everything. it takes $50 to fill a gas tank, brutal winter adding to things.

is there mention in the bible or some other book, maybe nostradomis, of the instability and unrest we're seeing, or is it simply a case of the reader being able to interprate what he wishes ?

It's certainly implied in the bible. Economic conditions around the world are teetering. Inflation is spreading everywhere, most especially with food. In fact, this morning I was reading an article on Yahoo that talked about how around 2050, the world population will grow to 7 billion people and what that will do to food in terms of shortages. (And these shortages in turn, would drive up prices even further.

And, of course, rising oil prices is also fueling this inflation. There isn't a sector in the economy that is not adversely affected by rising oil prices.

In addition, the bible does specifically speak to the plagues that the earth will experience in these end days. That, too, would impact food prices.

And the Book of Revelation does predict very serious inflation in these end times -- specifically with respect to food. And what's even more interesting about this prophecy is that it is given in the context of the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". Here is the text pertaining to the horseman on the Black horse:

Rev 6:5-6
5 And when He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come." And I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine."
NASB

Two things are noteworthy in this passage. Serious or even hyperinflation is predicted here with two food staples -- wheat and barley. And the small quantities would cost a "denarius", which back in John's time represented an average day's pay.

The second item of note is that the horseman is carrying a pair of scales. Scales and food? I can only conclude from this association that food will probably be in very short supply and will have to be measured out -- rationed out. I think this is a reasonable deduction since food prices will be very high. High prices would be consistent with shortages. And serious food shortages is what the Yahoo article was all about that I read this morning. And the world (especially the poor nations) is already experiencing these shortages and high prices, which I think, at this point in time, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Politically, the world is in turmoil. Unrest and uneasiness and even chaos seem to surround us -- both here at home and abroad. We witnessed what went on in Greece, France, England and now throughout the Middle East. Both dynamics (politics and economies) would have to be at work globally to set the world stage for the "new world order" -- for the "one world government" headed up by none other than the antichrist. He will be a highly intelligent, captivating, dynamic person who will come along just at the right time to save the world from itself. Remember: He will be the counterfeit Christ and, therefore, a false savior.

And we must remember that there will be economic sanctions imposed upon everyone who refuses to "take the mark of the beast". Such people will not be able to engage in commerce. They will not be able to buy or sell (Rev 13:17) All of this suggests a highly advanced technological world that would be necessary to enforce the sanctions and probably a one-world currency. And already, we see that the U.S. Dollar is no longer the global default economy.

Also, Jesus prophesied that the end times would be marked with wars and rumors of wars. And, ironically, in that prophecy he also predicted famines and earthquakes (Mat 24:6ff). Famines would be consistent, too, with food shortages and inflation.

All the dominoes appear to be falling into place.

i may be looking back thru rose tinted glasses, but as a boy and a young man, i can not remember our government playing such a huge, and in my opinion overbearing, part in our individual lives.

i'm certainly not well traveled. i continue to be assured by friends that are, this is still the best place. but i ask, compared to what ? we used to be "great" both domestically and in foreign affairs. it just seems to me, just like an individual growing up, when we were young and strong with bountiful resources and opportunities, we were great.

have we now"grown" old, finding ourselves infirmed with the same maladies we never understood about our older neighbors who had exhausted their resources and opportunities long ago when they were still growing ?

i guess its true that all the "great" societies (ie. greece, rome, spain, england) implode and dissolve from within. i sure feel like we're imploding.
