What i would like to do is transfer or extract info like all stuff in c of xp to c or any where that can into windows7.

1. Remove the hard drive from your computer.

2. Get an external USB enclosure for the hard drive - I pay about $40 for one of these.

3. Connect the now-external drive to the new computer via USB cable (I pay about $6 for one of these).

Windows will see the drive.

Wow, good idea.
I have a couple of older HDs that have some marginally interesting stuff on them that was not worth the effort to salvage, but this sounds pretty doable.

Thanks Dave!

Look into a hard drive toaster too. They are neat.

Just make sure u get the right one based on the connector to the hard drive.

I did something similar, but without buying anything. I put the old drive in the "slave" postion in the wire harness. The good "Master" was able to read the slave.

Many of these external boxes come with both IDE and SATA connectors, however others come with either/or. Be careful in your purchase.
