Urgent help needed

At extremely short notice (only some hours!), I have to write an article about racehorses' names based on the 'spirit' of the Valentine's Day (that's love, friendship, romance, etc).

Can anyone throw up some names they know? If there is any anecdotal story on how the owner or trainer thought of that name, it will be just great.

All help will be appreciated.

there is a horse that onefast owns that he named her "CHEMO WARRIOR" after his sister who had a bout with cancer. he's a nice guy as well. she has only started to train and will not make it to a race before the end of this year at the earliest. i think she will be pretty good if she starts to grow more, she is a late may foal so the book is still out on her.

Dreaming of Anna was also named by a man (Frank C Calabrese) for his sister who suffered from cancer. She went on to be very respectable on the racetrack.

There was a horse in New York named Love That Mac years ago. It might be named after John MCEnroe the tennis player.

Also, on Lisa's Booby trap mentiomed earlier you should do a google on it as was named for his wi fe who passed and a strip club he frequented

Years back,probably the mid 90's, there was a good stakes calibre horse that ran here and in Florida-The Names Jimmy. Had one of those heart-wrenching stories behind the name.

There was a horse that ran in Maryland named "Ops Smile". This horse was named by a Doctor ( I believe ) who performed surgery on children born with a cleft pallet/hare lip. I am pretty sure that all of the horses winnings (he owned the horse) went to help those families who needed financial help for the cost of surgery.

You may need to google this for factual backup as I am recalling from memory.

but thought i'd mention you are missed at louisiana downs this year. i enjoyed your banter with the on track crowd commenting directly toward certain individuals . such as to the guy in the checked coat and so forth. you don't find track announcers that have that aspect at least that i've heard..maybe ou can make it back one day, also miss micheal chamberlain at sam houston . i play on line from fort smith arkansas , i am mainly a quarterhorse player mostly si i heard you the whole quarterhorse meet last year at L A D. after playing houston for a good many years it seems odd to hear a different voice there. good luck to you at arapahoe

When I was in Florida there was a filly who's trainer Buddy Edwards told me a lovely story about how she was named.

Buddy had a 4 year old daughter named Courtney. Every day he would come home and greet her by kiddingly calling her a different name. Hello Mary. Hello Jane. Hello Alice and so on. Each day she would defiantly fire back at her dad and say what ended up being the filly's name.
