good luck on your pick 3's there.
Monday is the slowest track day of the week, so i figured if
there is ANY chance of building up pool size and interest for the
12% Pick-3 at Sam Houston, this is the day of least competition.
With the $.50 minimum, small bettors liking a 10/1ml shot in one leg
can go "Fish" in surrounding 4 races (two legs before,& two after)
to catch a Bigger Payout for his $10 stab, esp.if the ML is "off".
Pick-3 Pools had been in the $3k-$4k range the last few years.
The drop to a $.50 Min.helped Pick-3 Pools last Monday range from
$4k-+$7K at Sam Houston.& That's another reason Sammy on Monday
is a good place to target a "BuyCott". Players can swell these figures.
Honestly, i think horseplayers could bump these Monday Pick-3
pools from $10K to $15K over the month with Good Weather,
decent field sizes, & support from bettors.
Remember,
OTHER TRACKS will take notice if Sam's 12% Pick-3 pools increase!

gotta work until 4, but may play the last of the card late........

I just got off work, and it's too late to put in any for the early part of the card. Been a long day.

I usually play the east coast tracks, but the small minimum bets are an incentive to check out Sam while Prx is 'under the weather'

I bet at Sam Houston every day, & I know a lot of the employees there.
From what they have told me, the management at Sam Houston is not interested in horse racing. They want SLOTS.

The upper management recently fired all of the lower management and hired all show business people to take their places. For some reason, they are trying to rent out the parking lot & infield to do shows and concerts. The same thing that is ruining Churchill Downs.

I'll be playing but most of my money will be on the 8th race Pick 3...the 8th and 10th are turf races.

Nice hit, Ralph, on that late pick 3 $179 for 50 cents .... I used 3 of the first-time starters in race 8, but not the $76 winner and liked 4 horses in the last leg .. but not Edna.

For some reason, they are trying to rent out the parking lot & infield to do shows and concerts. The same thing that is ruining Churchill Downs.

In my opinion, this is the only thing that saved Canterbury until they got their poker room. One year they had events every single weekend from the closing of live racing in Aug. until the start of the next meet in May.
