One of my faves, French onion soup mix in sour cream with any kind of chip. Yum!

The least likely thing to pass my lips tomorrow afternoon and evening: vegatables.

Great news here! We were planning a very quiet get together with just 4 of us tomorrow.

Someone came over and gave us VIP tickets to the Nugget's Super Bowl Party! Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!

So, our friends will be partying here - WITHOUT US!

Full on gala in La Jolla. The dude part of the couple has made what he thinks to be some yummy brussel sprout concoction that he's mighty proud of. I made the mistake of putting too much on my plate the first time. Put less on the second time. If I see it again, no way it ends up on my plate. If he axes why I didn't take any I'm cuttin' to chase & going right to the classic - 'Cause it's horrible!

going all out here. have a home theatre with a 9 x 15 foot screen with surround sound. 20 some odd people and grand kids.

we got brats, ham and hot wings, potatoe wedges and corn on the cob, all b-b-qued, corn chips, regular and onion flavored with a salsa dip and a cheese dip and two types of sour cream dips and a pony keg and about 4 litres of soda

I figure the cops will be here by mid game because of the noise.

that is why we make extra so we can invite them in! :D

...can't compete with a home theater, but we have a family room with a 60 in Sony Bravia flat screen TV. We decided to wait for dinner and had spareribs, baked beans and potato salad. Later-cheesecake if there is any room left.

Go Packers and wind Big Ben's clock for him.

So, we got these tickets as a gift to the Nugget for their (supposedly) great Super Bowl party. I understand they were $50 a head.

The food was just pitifully poor. I had been told to expect BBQ ribs, prime rib sandwiches and great desserts.

Their were small sandwiches, the worst hot dogs I have ever eaten, tacos (with no cheese, onions, lettuce). The only thing worth eating was the sausage and bell peppers.

The desserts were just terrible and ran out in the first quarter, never to be replaced.

If I was offered these tickets again (for free) I would refuse. I cannot believe anyone would actually pay for this swill. IMHO, John Ascuaga sent a clear message of his cheapness.

John Ascuaga being interviewed:

Q What do you think about the assortment of restaurants at John Ascuaga’s Nugget?
A I know everyone thinks I’m being a little egotistical, but we’ll put the quality of our food up against any restaurant in the country. We excel in quality—that’s the number-one reason why we’re so successful because we really emphasize quality in our meats, in our condiments. We have fresh orange juice, not frozen, made from fresh oranges from California. We have all of the fresh vegetables that we can get. We use a tremendous amount of produce from ranches in Winnemucca, and a lot of our onions come from the Pery Brothers in Yerington.

Just pawn them off on some unsuspecting "friend" that doesn't know any better. Oh, wait....

... that the food in his restaurants IS of excellent quality.

This meal was just seriously sub-par, especially in comparison to some of the other casinos in town that have "football deals." I have only been to a couple of them but in comparison I would give the Nugget a C- where the other places are typically at least A- every time.
