During the Cold War, President Reagan was made aware of a serious shortage in the USSR. they were spending so much money on missiles that they could not afford to produce condoms and their population was beginning to spiral.

He asked the military quartermasters if we had a surplus of them that we could spare. He was told that we had 10 million extra large condoms in warehouses that were made in error, and would not likely be used as they could fit a cucumber!

Under the guise of humanitarian reasons, The Prez offered the Russians
our entire stock.

They were very grateful and accepted his offer.

"Pack them up and ship them to Moscow," The Reagan ordered.
"But first, re-label them all "SMALL!"

Something similar to this actually happened. During WWII, sailors in the British Navy would put condoms over the barrels of 50 cal anti aircraft machine guns to keep water from splashing down into the inner workings of the guns. They used condoms because if they had a warning that planes were coming, they removed them and stuck them in a pocket. It they were taken by surprise, they just pulled the trigger and started shooting, no harm done.

The navy inquired if something similar could be made to use on 20 mm ack-ack guns, which were also out where the spray could get them wet. This was actually done and worked quite well.

The story, probably apocryphal, is that Churchill wanted some marked "small" and dropped over Germany. The giant condoms did exist, but I doubt many made it into Germany.
