Track conditions are still iffy, so they cancelled after two.

I'm not a fan of these run the Daily Double and then cancel the card routine.
How many horses vanned up for the card, only to turn back?

How many bettors wasted money by traveling and handicapping.
It takes time, effort and money on the part of a lot of people.

If safety is a priority for the horses and riders why were these horses
sent out as "guinea pigs" in the first and second races?
If track management and jockeys are not 99% sure,
then do not start the card. It's simple and it's common business sense.

Running two races and let the on-track patrons play the simulcasts
the rest of the way is "cheating" them of what they really came for: Live Racing.

Excellent points. I can't tell you how many times an eastern card will 'delay' the races while their live customers hang around waiting (and oh yeah, betting simo while they wait).

Jocks have gotten soft over the years, i dont ever remember this many cancellations back in the day.

I'm not sure exactly as I was conducting the draw for next Wednesday's card when the second race was running. According to the Equibase chart, the last place finisher in the race faltered. After the wire, one of the Ho brothers was unseated while the other Ho brother had to avoid running over his sibling.

Afterwards the jockeys and management met, I was not in the meeting as I was still drawing races. A decision was made to cancel the remainder of the card.

Training has been cancelled for tomorrow morning. We are still on for Saturday's card.

I can only point you to the track's press release http://www.laurelpark.com/NewsEvents/FeatureStories/Details/Laurel012811_SA.htm
