The president of the SCLC's Cleveland chapter, the Rev. E. Theophilus Caviness, said at the gala that the governor's view is disappointing.
"We need inclusion, not exclusion," Caviness said.
But what the governor needs are qualified, not unqualified people. Too bad so many superficial black and white libs alike can only see skin deep.

It amazes me why a lot of poor and working class people voted for Kasich. Kasich has made it clear that he wants Ohio to be union free. Where I come from so many poor, working, union, mostly Appalachian people swore that they would vote for a Democrat if they were backed by the NRA. Like many they also hate the fact that they lost their jobs because of NAFTA. Ted Strickland Democrat had the NRA endorsement. As congressmen Strickland voted against NAFTA, while Kasich voted for it. Go figure.

When King said a person should be judged my the content of his character that was fine by me....that is how it should be. What the "black leaders" really want is as many jobs as possible for "minorities" regardless of qualifications. Anybody wonder why Asians do not have minority status? It is because they do not need or want it. They do just fine on their own.
No amount of welfare will ever replace motivation and resourcefulness.
You will never stop a man determined from achieving success you will and never hand it to one who refuses to work for it.
If you re-distributed all the wealth equally today, within a year, 80% of those who had it taken from them would have much of it back.

For instance, were there ever any "Asians only" drinking fountains? Just asking...
Except for WWII and Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt's internment camps, based primarily on the west coast, there really isn't much to go on by comparison.

Not to take anything away from what you're saying, but how long do current generations of Blacks get to play their Victomology card on the backs of previous generations? Do we carry the past plights of the blacks into the 24th century, for example? Or do we play the race card with blacks until racism in America is stamped out 101%? Is that what we're looking for: The perfect world in terms of race relations? Or do we approach race relations from another angle and instead of constantly donning our sackcloth and ashes garments for all the wrongs non-whites have done to Blacks in the past, we celebrate and applaud the great advancements we, as a society, have made? I think advancing race relations even further, going forward , would be made a lot easier and go smoother if everyone focused on the positive achievements, instead of fixating our glaze on past sins -- sins that so many of us had no part in to boot! At some point in time true forgiveness must take place if there's ever going to be genuine healing. But it appears that so many liberals (white and black) don't want healing. They're more interested in keeping the wounds open and festering because this way they will need perpetual tending and, therefore, victimization will be perpetuated as well. Just as it's not healthy to leave physical wounds unattended, so too it's just as bad to leave a society's moral wounds festering.

You're suggesting that in a democratic society folks shouldn't have the right to legally form associations with members of their own race?

Actually there was mass discrimination against Chinese workers who came here to build the railroads in the late 1800s. Many discriminatory laws were passed at the time.

MY 2 cents - of course they do, but they no right to expect or request any public funding, special considerations, etc. And membership would HAVE to be open to all races.
What do you suppose the reaction would be if we had a WHITE Caucus in Congress? OR an NAAWP, or the United WHITEY College Fund?
Does the BLACK caucus allow white members? Does the UNCF pay tuitions to white students?

1) Does the BLACK caucus allow white members? 2) Does the UNCF pay tuitions to white students?
1) No, they have historically refused white members.
2) Yes, anyone is welcome to apply for a UNCF scholarship.
I did not know 2.
But my point being, we cannot become united if we remain divided.
Social groups, Like Sons of Ireland, fine, but once we get into the real world,
we need to break up the tribes.
Get rid of this hyphonated American crap.
