"Because when horses run as fast as they have been running this winter at Santa Anita, one has to ask again – at what expense?"

Free writes that "[n]o one is blaming the Santa Anita track."

Really? It didn't read that way to me.

This entry reads like someone who doesn't want to say directly that the track is to "blame," but implies it.

As I've mentioned a few times, this exact same thing happened with synthetics a few times. I'm willing to give them a little time to get it right. Honestly, nobody is betting anyway.

Very interesting !!
Geeze, is that meet snake-bit.
It sounds like 5-horse fields may be looked upon fondly in the not-too-distant future.

Interesting to note the comments beneath the article...

Five years ago hardly anybody mentioned the word takeout in normal conversation at all; not unless the conversation happened to be about takeout.

Now you see that word mentioned everywhere all over the web.

I started to notice this about a year ago. I have mentioned it a few times. I have only been playing since around 2001, but never heard a word about it until about 2 years ago.

Jerry Hollendorfer

“My filly got beat,” he said, while walking back to the stables. “We may have to do something else. If the track stays the same way, I don’t think we’ll run here.”

Why wasn't it too fast when it was rubber?

He'll never answer. Much easier to avoid and push the agenda.

Then I'll give what I think his answer would be for him: "It's safe to run on rubber at those speeds, while dirt is unsafe at any speed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsafe_at_Any_Speed)."

It was the title of the article, not my opinion. Slow on Monday are we?
