Thought it interesting that pacer TOM PANE raced for veteran trainer Carl Le Cause in his last two starts with two different racebikes.On Saturday Jan 8 the horse finished a fast closing second 1:51:4 28:1 final quarter with the older style quick hitch racebike in of which had probably been in Carls barn for some fifteen years.
Yesterday Friday Jan 14 in the same class in a division of the Clyde Hirt TOM PANE switched to the latest racebike of all the catchdrivers at the Meadowlands with Andy Miller driving.In here he finished a tiring eighth with a 29:3 last quarter in a mile paced in 1:53.
This I hope will shed some light on the racebikes NOT being the major reason why we see the faster times today.Yes TOM PANE made an early move in his latest start before tiring and their could have been other physical related reasons why he didn't perform better, but in this matter the facts speak for themselves.
