What time are the scratches posted?????? I thought they were announced around 6:30 p.m. Entries have to be made by then.

Would be nice if it was just 30 minutes before the first race in the contest. Sometimes there actually is a track bias. I'll play because it's free, but it wouldn't be worth it if you had to put of the money. Should be fun !!!

I saved my shoe Friday with the Tetrick horse running 2nd in the middle leg.
I was at my OTB betting M last night....any horse that found the 3 path in the lane seemed to have the race won. Maybe the bias was just come from behinders, but it was remarkable the same part of the track seemed better.

Well, we have our first bomb with Dinneratartsplace scoring for over $110 on the win end. The good thing about this contest is that in the long run consistency is the key since an in the money finish by any one of your 3 picks is needed to continue. Down the road unless these longshot stabbers change their handicapping, they will lose a shoe and eventually drop out.

A previous contest had no shoes so people would just take stabs with longshots which turned the contest into a farce. At least the better handicappers will be there in the end with these rules. Good luck to all.

No chance at "Shoe Recovery" this contest, so being barefoot already, this becomes an exercise in futility.

Dropped to 224th but still have 1 shoe on.

Love the Tetrick horses in the contest races.

Race 7 - :2: Dont Know Chip (Al Stanley double qualifying angle, these kind of horses getting what amounts to an extra workout for no apparent reason except fitness are potent)

Race 9 - :6: Whatnblazes (uncovered on outside in blazing last half last time out and just missed in 3 horse photo, has back class and back speed)

Race 12 - :3: Haverford Hanover ( sharp right now moving up the class ladder again)

Ok, time to get serious. I don't like freefalling 500 places in 2 days but still laced up with a shoe. 1091 eliminated so far out of 5000 which seems like a lot only 4 cards into the contest. Looks like a lot of longshot stabbers in here hoping to get lucky as opposed to real handicappers.

R1 :4: Newport Volo

R3 :3: Dynamic Preacher

R9 :2: Tiber Hanover

I really like Dynamic Preacher if he can stay flat. Tried to leave out of he 8 hole , broke, was distanced, then made up ground. Making up ground after a break is a big angle for me because it meant the horse wasn't out for a jog. Produced many $50+ winners for me usually at the lower tier tracks.

harness2008
01-27-2011, 05:12 PM
Race 1: :4: NEWPORT VOLO - Should be a jogger as long as Tetrick can keep him from dancing.

Race 3: :8: SWAN IMAGE - 2nd off layoff. Nice uncovered move into a stiff last half last time out plus the slight drop.

Race 9: :2: TIBER HANOVER - Post relief, a change in racing strategy last out while parked the entire mile. Should be a nice price.

harness2008----My congrats also. It's hard enough going three for three on races YOU pick out. Going three for three on the races they force you to pick is impressive. Nice price on "Tiber". Hope you had it nailed. Wish the contest would be on any three races that the contestant picks. But it is for free. :) Best of trips on your picks for tonight.

Many thanks melman, sometimes this seems like an easy game, doesn't it? My early money showed last night on Tiber Hanover as he opened up as the 2-1 choice on the first flash but then floated up to 9/2 at post time. Great when a plan works out occasionally.

Of course this all means that tonight I fall flat on my face to even things out, natures way of keeping order or maybe it's that black cloud that seems to follow me around. Managed to climb back up to 212th place though with a shoe, so I'll take it.

What I find amazing is that people who are in the top 10 had both of those huge longshots that have won so far in this contest. Not sure how they picked both of those but have to hand it to them.

Everyone here be consistent and stay alive with your picks. Tomorrows another day and there is a long way to go yet.

There are less dates this year it's going to be a much tougher haul. I know lots of people complain but we all had the opportunity to pick these bombs hats off to the cappers that did.

harness2008
01-29-2011, 11:08 AM
The trouble is nobody who was actually betting on those races would have chosen those two bombs with real money, so really in this contest its just a stab in the hopes that you get lucky. I guess that's what upsets some people.

Very true, there are less dates and those that are hopelessly behind are up against it. I think there are still 26 racing dates left in this contest which is 78 races. You can't fall too far behind I agree, but a good thing are the people who are already out of the contest in the top 50 and others in the high ranks without any shoes.
